Environmentally-Responsible Computer Waste Recycling

Liquid Technology takes pride in the fact that we strictly adhere to the Environmental Protection Agency's rules and regulations concerning responsible e-waste recycling processes. As computer recyclers of excellence, Liquid Technology ensures our clients that all of their equipment will be disposed of properly and in accordance with all current federal, state and local regulations concerning the proper disposal of e-waste. Here are some examples of how our e-waste recycling process and disposal services help our clients minimize their risks.

  • CRTs - Decommissioned CRT monitors pose a serious health threat to the environment if they are not subjected to proper e-waste disposal methods. Toxic substances such as lead, mercury, barium, cadmium and phosphorous are all contained inside of a CRT. Unlike many of our competitors, Liquid Technology does not sell or export CRTs. Instead, we send all of our unsalvageable CRTs to our downstream eSteward Certified partners where they are taken apart by hand to ensure zero environmental impact.
  • PCs/Servers - End of life PCs and servers are all demanufactured in-house by our trained technical staff. Individual components such as CPUs, RAM and hard drives are harvested and remarketed whenever possible. The rest of the machine is stripped down and sorted into different material streams such as plastics, metals, circuit boards and cables. These are then sent to our downstream partners who refine and smelt these items into raw materials that can be reused in another capacity.
  • Printers/Copiers/Fax Machines - These low-grade items are stripped of any potentially toxic materials such as large LCD screens or toner cartridges and then sent downstream where their plastics and metals are recycled and reused.
  • UPS & Battery Backups - The majority of Battery Backup systems use lead acid (wet-cell) batteries. Lead is an extremely toxic substance, so it's imperative that it be dealt with properly during e-waste recycling. Our downstream partner does this by smelting and refining the batteries into recycled commodities such as hard and soft lead and sodium sulfate (fertilizer). The scrap plastic is then broken down and used to create new battery cases.
